WIDE ROAD (Benz)
tet 25" M. Dor. (Triumphant Entry X Tet. Ruffled Perfection)
This cross has produced many wonderful yellows, yet very few have surpassed parent TRIUMPHANT ENTRY. This is a daunting task as TRIUMPHANT ENTRY is possibly the best of all our pre "RUFFLED PERFECTION" yellows, by virtue of flower size, 3 3/4" petals, superb overall plant habit and consistent re-bloom. WIDE ROAD certainly comes closer to the vision I had when making this cross than any other. This is far and away the brightest and most intense true canary yellow of any of these sibs. Throat is deep emerald green and the 3 3/4" petals on this 5 1/2" daylily are wider than they are long forming a dramatic oversquare bloom. Plants are crown building true dormant and branching is moderate, displaying the 18-20 flowers up and out for great garden presence. WIDE ROAD is fertile both ways and a fairly easy pod-parent, rare among the offspring of Tet. RUFFLED PERFECTION.  All the best traits of both parents seem to have converged in WIDE YELLOW ROAD to produce one truly superb daylily. And it's proving a wonderful parent as well. We bloomed our first crop of seedlings from addressStreetWIDE ROAD last summer (2007) and saved every single one for a second look. Consistently re-blooms here in my zone 6 garden.
