This 6" shimmering, gold-edged red proves once again that serendipity often plays a larger role in hybridizing than we would like to admit. From a cross of our 5 1/2" pink JANET BENZ and our big gold-edged lavender ULTIMATE WEAPON comes this full 6 inch crystal-clear diamond-dusted cherry-red with its silver dollar sized lime green throat and glittering gold edge. Recently several excellent gold-edged reds have come on the scene and VALENTINE GLITTER is a contender for top spot in this class by virtue of color clarity, large size, heavy substance, its green throat, and last but not least, its strong Northern plant. Plants are medium-large, forming thick arching fans that are true semi-evergreen, suffering no foliage damage despite prolonged periods of sub-zero weather‹yet never go completely underground like a true dormant. Scapes are stiff and strong, but a little too short and top-branched to suit me with 15-18 buds. Very fragrant; fertile both ways and proving a tremendous parent. $150.00 SOLD OUT
