PURPLE ODYSSEY

tet 36" M. Dor. [Barney X (Janet Benz x Tet. Grand Masterpiece)] Big and bold, this lustrous 6" purple showpiece is much like a deeper grape-jelly version of parent BARNEY. Not quite as big, nor as tall as BARNEY, but much more color saturated and this is the largest and showiest of our deep purples to date. Can be a bit informal for my taste at times, but a garden showoff supreme, and this big ruffled purple always draws a crowd. Scapes are big and strong, with 2-3 branches and a total of 22-25 buds. Makes big, beautiful plants, with arching blue-green dormant foliage and tremendous vigor. I will see the first of its seedlings bloom this summer, as this powerhouse just bloomed 3 years ago, and has already increased enough for introduction! Fertile both ways; but pollen is easier. Having JANET BENZ as a double grandparent, PURPLE ODYSSEY has not only inherited the remarkable vigor, but also the wonderful fragrance, which is rare in this color. FALL ONLY $150.00
