NIGHT FLYER

tet 36" M. Dor. (Paint It Black X Imperial Decree) NIGHT FLYER is wider and more ruffled, and in many ways can be considered an improved version of its parent PAINT IT BLACK. Blooms are more consistent and more refined, opening flatter and earlier in cold weather. Also slightly heavier and more sunfast, but PAINT IT BLACK is no slouch in these areas. Very tall, and scapes can soar to over 40" in height, thus the name NIGHT FLYER. When we bloomed this beauty, we could scarcely believe our luck! Improving PAINT IT BLACK has been no easy feat, but NIGHT FLYER has encouraged us to pursue the color black with renewed intensity. Branching is nice, but not as good as I would like, with 2-3 long lateral branches and a widespread terminal cluster. Bud-count is 20+. Plants are large and very vigorous, forming a clump in short order. Fertile both ways, but pods are difficult, like both parents. Still, there simply are no sunfast green-throated blacks and the effort to coax pods will surely be worthwhile. FALL ONLY $150.00
