![]() PEACOCK CREST
(Benz) tet 36" M. Dor. (Glittering Elegance X One Step Beyond) Many of the "crested" forms exhibiting doubling on the midrib, show up in the offspring of Tet. BARBARA MITCHELL, and it becomes even more commonplace in the f-2 progeny resulting from sib crosses. Myself, I love the elegant layered double forms epitomized in the David Kirchhoff doubles, and have always considered these crested forms an eyesore and quickly discarded them. But from the very first bloom of PEACOCK, I knew it would be introduced. Larger at 6", and far more beautiful and refined than most of these inconsistent forms, PEACOCK seems to grow more beautiful with each passing day, and as the nights become increasingly warmer the soft pink blooms continue to grow in size and the doubling becomes more and more dramatic. In hotter weather the gold edge grows as well, and some of the last blooms appear to be all adorned in fancy gold braids. Plants are large and vigorous; scapes have 2 laterals and a bud-count of 22. Fertile both ways, but a difficult pod-parent. Simply put, this is the most dramatic daylily of this form I have ever encountered. $100.00
