SHADES OF BEAUTY

(Benz) tet 32" M. Ev. (Tet. Sugar Cookie X Picotee Dream) I have always felt that the picotee edge in both PICOTEE DREAM and its half sib VIRGINIA PECK(both from T. JOAN SENIOR) came not directly from JOAN, but from the grandparent LITTLE INFANT. I have seen the same soft rose edge on T. SUGAR COOKIE, and even on its seedlings especially when crossed back into the T. JOAN SENIOR line as in my own PEACE DOVE. But these edges were subtle and vanished by noon. So on a hunch, I made hundreds of crosses to obtain just a scant few seed, and there it was, SHADES OF BEAUTY. Almost the same in pattern and coloration as parent PICOTEE DREAM, but tales perfectly circular form and plastic-like substance from T. SUGAR COOKIE. SHADES OF BEAUTY has a strong, magnificent scape, with 4-way branching and 30+ buds. Makes huge, beautiful plants, like PICOTEE DREAM, only increases much, much faster. From 2 full evergreens, this cultivar goies nearly dormant here-another surprise. Fertile both ways. $100.00
