CRUSHED CRANBERRY LACE (Benz)
tet 28" M. Dor. (Sabine Bauer X Tet. Lavender Blue Baby)
I could scarcely believe my eyes when I first spied this fancy beautifully ruffled 4 1/2"  purple. CRUSHED CRANBERRY LACE is reminiscent of a greatly improved Tet. LAVENDER BLUE BABY, only bigger, deeper in color and far better branched. This amazing flower is a beautiful shade of soft grape purple, with a big black purple eye, a small, but intense emerald green throat and an intricate jet-black wire edge which weaves in and out of the ruffling and encircles the petals from throat to tip. This thin black edge is further embellished by a very fine white edge, which upon close inspection is made of tiny white teeth like a fine hacksaw blade. This double edge is present on the sepals as well, something we have never encountered before. Blooms are oversquare and always picture perfect day in and day out despite heavy sunfast substance. Plants are medium large with beautiful dark blue-green leaves, and strong erect beautifully branched scapes that carry 35-40 of these fancy blooms to perfection. Fertile both ways and a fabulous re-bloomer. My first course of action when I saw the substance and ruffling on CRUSHED CRANBERRY LACE was to cross it with my best self-colored purples. We bloomed the first results last summer and to say I was pleased would be an understatement. This was our most exciting purple crop‹EVER! CRUSHED CRANBERRY LACE produced purples in every shade from burgundy to the most intense black purple and many with extreme ruffling and excellent branching was the norm.
