When making this cross, I had envisioned a huge 6" version of WHITE FANG or maybe a bright red version of ULTIMATE WEAPON. So when I saw this 6" rose-red with no dramatic sharks teeth, I almost discarded it. Now, sometimes crosses go exactly as planned, while at other timesŠserendipity plays its part. BRAVE ULYSSES was the biggest, heaviest bloom, and far and away the largest and best branched in the cross of 60 sibs. ButŠthe second year it bloomed, the plants and scapes were the biggest and strongest of any seedling in the entire seedling crop! Forced to take a second look, I realized this flawless flat-open beauty was consistently perfect with substance like heavy plastic‹and an EASY pod-parent! Needless to say, BRAVE ULYSSES quickly became the big strong stud plant for all the smaller and weaker but more glamorous edged varieties. Fans are as big as my wrist with scapes as large in diameter as a nickel, sporting 4 lateral branches, a terminal cluster and over 30 buds. Fragrant and an excellent re-bloomer. We will bloom a few kids this summer and a HUGE crop in 2009.
