tet 30" M. Dor. (Startle X Rose Destiny) This stunning 6" bright blood red with its heavily ruffled and jagged fringed edge is truly in a class all its own. A bit variable according to weather, at times blooming as a solid blood-red with 1/2 inch of pale ivory-pink, and in warmer weather BLOODRAYNE grows increasingly round and ruffled, displaying a far more dramatic edge bristling with jagged white and gold sharks teeth. Plants are large and vigorous, with arching blue-green foliage. Scapes are ramrod straight with beautiful even spaced branching and a total of 28 buds. The entire plant is in perfect balance, with lowest branches blooming well up and out of the foliage. Substance is heavy and sunfast here, and a full day in hot sun just seems to enhance the edging and increase the contrast. I have tried to accumulate and compare all the wonderful reds with pale borders, and there are many very fine entries in this class, like PASSION'S PROMISE and KEY TO MY HEART. Still, BLOODRAYNE stands out by virtue of flower form, bloom size and plant habit. Fertile both ways, but a difficult pod-parent in full sun. Proving an astounding parent and very dominant for edged reds. Much anticipated, and I have a long waiting list. I expect this beauty be sold out in a matter of days. FALL ONLY $250.00
